The "kid's" bathroom

I'm back!  We had a crazy weekend full of birthday goodness, and it has taken me a couple of days to get things back together!  Now onto the next house project!  I mentioned before that the house originally had 2 bathrooms.  They were both pretty desperate for some attention!!  I honestly didn't even take pictures of them because I didn't want to go in them. (I really regret this now!)  So, I have nothing to show for how far they have come.  BUT-I can tell you they were bad.  And very cavelike!  We decided to start with what would be our daughter's bathroom.  There was going to be a lot more involved for the master bath, and we really needed to get at least one bathroom set up.  It wasn't SUCH a huge deal until we found a surprise in the toilet we had ripped out and put in the shed.  YES, one of the men working out here during the day used a toilet that was not hooked up to anything and sitting by itself out in the shed.  Gross me out the door.  So, we started by ripping everything else out of the bathroom and hanging new sheetrock.  Things needed to be framed a little differently because the opposite side of the wall is our den, and we needed to frame out the "TV hole" as we call it.  The guys took out all of the old flooring that was pretty much rotting away.  We turned things around a bit to make room for a half bath underneath the stairs.  As far as decorating, I wanted to keep things very neutral since it won't ALWAYS be a little girl's bathroom.  All of our kids will use this bathroom, and one day waaaaaayyy far down the road, it will be our guest bath.

I spoke about my hatred for plumbing once before, and I will just leave it at that.  Once we F.I.N.A.L.L.Y had things plumbed correctly, we got to purchase all the new goodies!  All of our fixtures in the entire house are oil rubbed bronze.  Or venetian bronze.  Different stores call it different names, but they are pretty much the same.  I love how the darkness of it wears off over time.  It looks very old and antiquey!  (Is that a word?)  For my daughter's bathroom, we went with a white acrylic tub and shower combo and a simple white vanity from Lowes.  Nothing fancy.  We went back and forth about what to do for countertops in the bathrooms.  I didn't want to spend a ton of money on granite, but Ben really wanted them.  We both lucked out because the place we bought our kitchen granite from was running a special where they would do any size vanity for $150 installed!!! That is an awesome price for granite!! It even included an under mounted sink!  Perfect!  We chose a neutral granite called Giallo Ornamental for both bathrooms. Here's a close up.

The next step was just finding tile to match!  Of course we went to Lowes first!  They have a great selection of tile in multiple sizes!  Again, we kept things very neutral.  My dear ol' dad laid the tile for us, teaching me how in the process!

Y'all know by now that we did most of the work ourselves, with the help of my dad and other family and friends.  One of the things I REALLY wanted to learn how to do was tile!  My dad is great at it and has done it for a lot of people, so he taught me and set me up for my first project:  the shower walls!

Turns out it's not so hard!  Just VERY time consuming!!!

Sorry for the horrible picture!  I think I was on hour 3288459 here, and thinking to myself, "WHY did I say I wanted to do this??"

And just in case you were wondering if I had help with this job, here is what my "help" did while I tiled.

And the finished product!!!

Luckily, my dad was able to hook everything up once the initial plumbing was done.  Only with help from his helping buddy, of course!

Sorry this is blurry.  I just love how they are looking at each other! <3

After all of the "dirty work" was done, dad painted and I brought it lots of girly color with the shower curtain!  We used the same green as her bedroom-Sherwin William's Cucumber.  It's nice and bright but still soft enough so it doesn't look like a highlighter.  The shower curtain actually came from my bathroom from my parent's house! My sister and I had it for a little while and then when I moved out, she decided to redo her bathroom.  Did I mention I love FREE stuff?!

Look at that fat pregnant woman in the mirror! :)

Hope you enjoyed!  I'll get to the master bathroom soon!!
